FRIDAY, Oct. 21
Blood Drive. Friday, Oct. 21 from 3-7 p.m. at Walmart, US 27 S., on the KBC Bloodmobile. Donors must be 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in general good health. Consent form can be found at www.kybloodcenter.org.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Oct. 21 at New Beginnings at 10:30 a.m.; Our Little Miracles, 11 a.m.; Robynwood Heights, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Spooky Boo-Wow Howloween Dog Costume Parade. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the courthouse. Registration starts at noon with an entry fee of $5. The parade will begin at 1:15 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Harrison County’s spay/neuter programs. Sponsored by Chi Beta Beta Sorority and the Humane Society of Harrison County.

Clothing Closet Open House. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Clothing Closet will hold an open house on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 3-5 p.m. in the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church lot. Live music, free food, and tours of the Closet will be available. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the day.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Oct. 24 in Claysville at 10:30 a.m.; Grays Run, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
TUESDAY, Oct. 25
Taking Ownership of your Diabetes. Classes will be held Oct. 25, Nov. 8 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Bourbon County Extension Office. Classes are free, call 859-987-1895 to register.
Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.
Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.

Children’s Story Time is Back. Tuesdays from 10-10:30 a.m. for ages 3 to 5; and Wednesdays from 4:30-5 p.m. for ages birth to 5 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

Auditions for Death of a Salesman (directed by Bill Caywood) will be held Nov. 2-4 at 7 p.m. at The harriCYN Community Theatre offices, 135 E. Pike St. (next door to the Rohs Opera House). Performance dates are April 26, 7 p.m.; April 27-28, 7:30 p.m.; and April 29, 2 p.m. Anyone interested in working with the production behind the scenes is invited to attend auditions. The Reel Truth: How Movies Happen. The Cynthiana Arts Council will host its annual Autumn Afternoon Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2:30. This year local film director Dr. Edward Smith will present the lecture.  The event is free at the Licking Valley Campus of MCTC and refreshments will be served. Community Christmas Project. Toy signups will be held Monday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fire station on Oddville Avenue. No late signups and no phone calls. Children must reside in Harrison County and be between birth and 10 years of age.
Medicare Part D Sign-ups Enrollment Event. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until 3:30 p.m.

AARP Safe Driver Course. Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for drivers 50 years of age or more at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The fee for AARP members will be $12, non-members $14, and during the month of November veterans and their spouses can take the course for free.
Women’s Book Group. Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Will discuss favorite books of 2011 and have a potluck. They do not have to be books discussed in the group.
Crafting and Carols. Thursday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. There will be a variety of crafts available to make as we listen to the sounds of the season. This is a craft session for adult patrons. Pre-registration is required.
LVBPW Meeting. The Licking Valley Business and Professional Women’s meets the second Wednesday of each month at Biancke’s Restaurant at noon, with a guest speaker. Interested and new members are welcome.
Harrison County Fire Protection District meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, 113 W. Pike St., Cynthiana. Open to the public.

Harrison County Veterans are eligible for interment in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Ky. Spouses and other eligible dependents may qualify for interment as well. Clothing Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m. The Clothing Closet will have boxes at both entrances of Walmart for coats, blankets, and winter items through Oct. 30.
