FRIDAY, June 5

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, June 5 at Grand Haven at 3 p.m.

SATURDAY, June 6

True Classics Car Club will be holding a cruise in on Saturday, June 6 at the Farmer's National Bank in Cynthiana on US 27 S. , from 6 p.m-dusk.

MONDAY, June 8

Salvation Army Board will meet Monday, June 8 at 4 p.m. at  Community Action, 216 Old Lair Rd. Distribution of funds received from the proceeds of a grant sponsored by 3M will highlight the meeting.

Champion for a Drug-Free Harrison County will meet Monday, June 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, June 8 at the Community Action Center and Harrison County Adult Daycare at 10:30 a.m.; and in Hinton at 2 p.m.

Northside Council. The Northside Site Based Council will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 8th, 2009 @ 3:45 p.m. in the Northside library. The public is invited to attend.

TUESDAY, June 9

Story Hour. Tuesday, June 9 from 10-10:30 a.m. for ages 2-5 in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is not needed.

Bailey Bunch. Will meet Tuesday, June 9 at the home of Louise Lake, 444 Pedro Pike (take Republican Pike 3.8 miles to Pedro Pike, fifth house on the right). All who worked at HMH are welcome. Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, June 9, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, June 10

Relay for Life is having an auction at Horn’s Auction Place on Wednesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Action 500 and Action Realty.

Harrison County Fire Tax District will meet Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. The meeting is open to the public.

Lexington native Margaret Price, author of Smiley Pete, Magnificent Moocher, will be reading from her book about a mooching stray dog from the streets of Lexington. There will also be games and prizes.

Bingo - Cynthiana Elks Bingo will be held Saturday, June 13. Doors open at 5 p.m., with Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. Following the Monday night Bingo.

Foster Care Volunteers Needed. The Harrison/Pendleton County Citizen Foster Care Review board is seeking volunteers of local foster children. Volunteers are required to complete a six-hour training session and consent to a criminal record and central registry check. Diabetes Support Groups. On Display. Barn quilt squares by Alice Jacobs throughout the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. A Mandala Art workshop will be held July 23 at 6 p.m. at the library by Lisa Hurst. Be sure to watch the display windows for a sampling of the upcoming summer reading prizes.

Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials. Clothing Closet. The Harrison County Clothing Closet is in need of adults and childrens coats, all sizes. Money donations are also accepted. The Clothing Closet is located at 128 Main Street, (behind the child support office), and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Head Start Program. Head Start-Community Action Council, is a comprehensive federally funded child development program for low-income families and children with disabilities that involves parents, community leaders and agencies, and provides the opportunity for children to be successful in school. Early Head Start. Works with families that are expecting a child or have children under three years, with the target age being under one year. The program provides intensive care for children through quality child development services in a center or home-based setting. Migrant Head Start Network. A free child care service for children of migrant farm workers. Establishes, provides and promotes continuous child development services to eligible migrant children and their families.
