Faces of Colon Cancer. A photo exhibit coordinated by the Kentucky Cancer Program to honor Kentucky survivors and spread the word that colon cancer screening saves lives on Thursday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Everyone is invited.

Paris Kiwanis Club to hold a Corn Hole Tournament on Thursday, April 21 at the big building at Legion Park in Paris. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and tournament starts at 7 p.m. The club will be accepting the first 32 teams only to participate. Cost is $20 per a team with single elimination. Community Easter Egg Hunt. The annual Frankie Taylor Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. for ages 3-10 at Veterans Flat Run Park, U.S. 62 E. on the black top walking trail. In case of bad weather, eggs will be passed out at the Health Department. Each child must provide their own basket or bag to collect eggs. Sponsored by the Rev. Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison, and Nicholas counties will remain in operation even though Congress may not reach an agreement on the federal budget for the year Oct. 1, 2010 - Sept. 30, 2011 by midnight April 8, 2011. Community Action Council is committed to our mission of combating poverty and will continue to provide all of our services at our neighborhood, community, and child development centers.

Pre K and Kindergarten Registration for the 2011-2012 school year will be held for all elementary schools at the Harrison County Board of Education, 308 Webster Ave. on Wednesday, May 18 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Thursday, May 19 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2011. They are required to have birth certificate, social security card, current immunization certificate, physical, dental screening and eye screening upon school entrance. You must have a copy of the original birth certificate from Frankfort to register your child(ren). You can pick up birth certificate applications at the Community Education Center or the local Health Department. Physicals and immunizations will be available on day of registration. Children entering Pre-K for the first time must be 3 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2011. Pre K students need the same information and in addition, they will need a statement of income for the last 12 months, lead screening, social security card for everyone in household, and copy of medical card, if applicable.
