THURSDAY, Jan. 21

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Thursday, Jan. 21 at Edgemont Health Care at 2:30 p.m.; and White Oak from 3-4 p.m.

Author Signing. Thursday, Jan. 21 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Cynthiana Native M. Britt Kennerly will be on hand to sign and answer questions about her new book Images of America: Cynthiana. Books will be available for purchase the night of the event. Refreshments will be served.

Harrison County Historical Society will meet Thursday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Prizing House on South Church Street. The speaker will be Nell Anne Gossett, owner and operator of the Prizing House. This is a very interesting building that has played an important part in Harrison County's history. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

FRIDAY, Jan. 22

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Jan. 22 at Eastside Laundry at 11 a.m. 

SATURDAY, Jan. 23

Class of 1976. Classmates are getting together Saturday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Family Fare.

SUNDAY, Jan. 24

Cynthiana Cycling Club Weekly Bicycle Ride will be held Sunday, Jan. 24, weather permitting (above 40 degrees and dry roads). Contact Peter or Kim Newberry for more information. All teenagers (and younger riders if accompanied by an adult) and adults are invited to ride, both beginners and experienced bicyclists. All riders receive a free highly-visible yellow Cycling Club t-shirt. If needed, bicycles and helmets will also be provided. All riders must contact Peter or Kim Newberry at 234-5285 prior to Saturday, Jan. 23 to reserve a bike and/or helmet. In the event that weather or road conditions keep us from riding, we will be repairing and refurbishing bicycles in the Newberry barn. If you know of a child in need of a bicycle, please contact  Peter Newberry.

Extension Office Open House. Join the Harrison County Extension Office staff on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2-4 p.m. for an Open House. The new addition is now complete. We would like to invite all citizens of Harrison County to stop by and see the new addition.  Refreshments will be served.

MONDAY, Jan. 25

The Silent Thief: Osteoporosis presented by Gina Noe, FCS Agent in Madison County, will be held Monday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office. This program is free and open to the public.

Middle School Council. The Harrison County Middle School Site-Based Decision Making Council will meet Monday, Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the school library. The meeting is open to the public.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Jan. 25 at the Community Action Childcare Center and Harrison County Adult Daycare Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

TUESDAY, Jan. 26

FFA Alumni Organizational Meeting will be Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. in Room 104 at the Harrison County High School. This meeting is for anyone interested, you don't have to be a former FFA member to be in the FFA Alumni.

Frosty the Snowman Socks. Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. for Grades K-5 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library to see Frosty in motion, and then create your own version of Frosty the Snowman, or his sweetheart Crystal. Snacks will be provided. Pre-registration requested. Program to be held in the new Library Annex, located across the street from the library parking lot.

Storytime. Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 10-10:30 a.m. for ages 2-5 in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is not needed.

Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, Jan. 26, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.

Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, Jan. 26, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 27

Food for Fines. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is accepting food for fines during the month of January.

Paying for College 101. Thursday, Jan. 28, at 5:30 p.m., presented by Summer Gortney from KHEAA (Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority). Learn the ins and outs of college financial aid. This program is for parents of college bound students, college bound students and adults returning to school.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Jan. 29 in Robynwood Heights from 2-3 p.m.

Hardware Russ Storyteller. Thursday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Russ Conrad of Falmouth is an entertainment storyteller. He has worked in the family owned hardware store in Falmouth for over 50 years. The program is free and open to the public

Library Cookbook. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is preparing a cookbook featuring favorite recipes from members of the community. The library staff is asking for recipes to be included in the collection. Names will be printed with each recipe submitted. Submissions must be typed, printed (no cursive) or sent by e-mail to cfranklin@cynthianalibrary.org. Copies of the submission form can be picked up at the library. Please follow the instructions on the recipe submission sheet. Attachments will need to be in Microsoft Word Document format or a text file with the subject title cookbook. Psycho-Educational Group (for adult survivors of sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse). The Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center will be offering a nine-week psycho-educational group for adult survivors of sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse in the Lexington office on Mondays, Feb. 1 through March 29, 2010.
