The Cynthiana nine police officers and two former officers who filed a petition of “no confidence” against their chief are awaiting a statement from the Cynthiana City Commission.

The commission held three closed sessions last week to hear testimony from the officers and Chief Ray Johnson and then to deliberate their findings.

The first meeting was held Monday, Jan. 27. It started as a hearing which lasted until early evening when commissioners went into executive session.

On Tuesday, commissioners held their regular meeting followed by deliberations, which also continued into Wednesday.

Following an hour and half closed session, city attorney John Lair announced that a special meeting will be called to provide a statement concerning the outcome of the deliberations. Media and counsel will be notified.

As of press time, there was no announcement regarding a special meeting.
