Clarifying gossip

To the editor:
I recently had the honor to preside over the funeral services for Melissa  Hall.  In my eulogy I read a letter written to me by Melissa. However, I was  apparently not clear about when the letter was written causing some people to believe and gossip things that are not true. I just wanted to clarify that  the letter was written to me around one year before her death.  
To the family, please know that I am still praying for you often, and to those overcome with the need to gossip, know that I am praying for you too.
