The burned out building at 213/215 South Main St. is one step closer to being torn down.
At last Tuesday’s meeting, the Cynthiana City Commission voted to proceed with litigation to obtain a certified order to demolish the property.
Owned by William Ray Asbury, the building suffered extensive damage after a fire on Aug. 9, 2002.
“We have made attempts to contact the property owner,” city attorney John Lair told the commission.
Lair said the city has sent Asbury two letters and made numerous phone calls, with no response from Asbury.
