Those who sell mixed drinks or package liquor could be paying more to the City of Cynthiana.
Commissioners approved the first of two readings required to pass an ordinance increasing the fee on liquor sales Tuesday night.
The increase from 2 percent to 4 percent would not become effective until May 1.
City Clerk Charleen McIlvain told commissioners at a special meeting last week that between July 1, 2011, and Jan. 20, 2012, the city received $257.52 in administrative fees on the sale of restaurant liquor.
