Champions for a Drug Free Harrison County will host its second annual Barbecue Cookoff this Saturday at the courthouse lawn.
County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett said at least six local cookers will be donating and preparing chicken, ribs, beef brisket and pulled pork.
For $8 a person, Barnett said, you can taste everything and eat all you can.
The proceeds of the event benefit Champions.
“We had great success the first year,” Barnett said, adding that the Barbecue Cookoff raised $2,000 last year. “We look to hopefully exceed that this year.”
Those tasting the barbecue will also vote on this year’s barbecue winner.
Barnett said other vendors and entertainment will also be at the courthouse lawn Saturday.
Barnett said food will begin being served at 11 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m., or “until the barbecue runs out.”
