Cemetery needs more supervision

-A A +A

To the editor:
I don’t know if this will do me any good, but I feel that others need to know what goes on in Battle Grove Cemetery.
I placed a beautiful expensive wreath which had no Christmas decorations; it was more of a winter decoration and was covered in clear white crystals that looked like ice dripping from the wreath. I went to get it as I had the year before only to discover that the cemetery were removing all Christmas decorations as of Feb. 1, 2012 and placing them behind a workers building where no one can see them. There they are open to anyone to take whether it belongs to them or not. People were up there going through them; perhaps they were looking for their own, or perhaps they were stealing what they could take.
My wreath was not there. It was unusual and someone stole it and I’m sure it was picked up like all the others where it is open season on everything behind that building.
If the cemetery management had bothered to place an ad in the paper that everything was going to be removed, I would have picked  mine up, but they didn’t.
Many people’s beautiful wreaths were put behind the building where no one can see them and I’m sure because mine was different some one took it.
This cemetery needs someone to really care and notify people when this is done. Many people like me, did not know Feb. 1 was the day everything went, yet as you drive through there are still many on graves. Maybe you have to be special people to have them left alone.
It has turned me against any holiday decorations at all. The departed cannot protect their own grave.
I hope whoever took my wreath with ice dripping from it has to pay for it in the next world.
Again this cemetery needs some supervision that I believe is going down hill.
This was Charlie North’s grave.
