The pre-season is nearly over and the games will now count for real as first year head coach Mark Carroll leads his Harrison County Thorobreds this Saturday in the regular season opener against Montgomery County in the 62nd Recreation Bowl in Mt. Sterling.
“I really don’t know what to expect from our team, but I know they are ready to play and excited about getting started,” said Carroll. “I’d say we’re about where we should be as far as heading into the first game goes. We have a lot to work on, but the kids are really looking forward to playing this first game.”
The game will be Harrison County’s eighth appearance, dating back to 1967, in the Recreation Bowl. Going into the 8 p.m. kickoff on Saturday night, Harrison County has an overall record of 4-3 in the school’s seven previous Recreation Bowl appearances.
