To the editor:
I would like to publicly commend Harrison Memorial Hospital and Women's Health of Cynthiana for the care I recently received. Last month as I prepared for surgery and a six week recovery, many friends and family were surprised to hear that I was not traveling to Lexington for such services. But as visitors came by during my surgery, and later to my room, they were pleasantly surprised.
However, my care at HMH and devotion from Dr. Clarke and his staff came to me by no surprise at all. The doctors and nurses were professional, extremely knowledgeable, and were truly hospitable to my family and visitors. The technology, safety precautions and facility were top notch.
I was completely humbled by the number of visitors who took time to visit me, but I was mostly amused by their comments about the hospital. Well this place is so nice. This room doesn't feel like you're in Cynthiana. After my grandfather treated the preacher and my husband to a tasty breakfast in the cafeteria for a whopping seven dollars, the story about such an economical meal immediately followed the comments about the facility.
I often find myself discouraged with Cynthiana's limited entertainment, businesses, crumbling curbs and patched pothole streets. But there are still a few gems that we need to treasure. If you feel that you need to travel elsewhere to receive quality medical care, consider saving your gas dollars and experience the treasures within Harrison Memorial Hospital.
