Historical Society. The Harrison County Historical Society will conduct its monthly meeting on Thursday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the Charles W. Feix Community Room. Officers elections will be held. Speaker will be Bill Penn on the Second Civil War Battle of Cynthiana.

Safe Sitter Classes. Toddler Village Day Care is offering Safe Sitter classes at Harrison Memorial Hospital on June 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for ages 11-13. Total cost for the classes is $25. To register contact Scheryl Morris at 859-235-3521.

MONDAY, June 23

Wedco District Board of Health will hold their quarterly meeting on Monday, June 23 at 6 p.m. at the Wedco District Administrative Office at 302 Oddville Ave. The public is welcome to attend.

TUESDAY, June 24

Harrison County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, June 24, 7 p.m., at the Community Education Building. The meetings are open to the public.

Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, June 24, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.

Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, June 24, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.

Head Start/Early Head Start Registration. Community Action Council will be registering children for Head Start/Early Head Start June 24-26. If anyone has a child that is 6 weeks to age 5 you may be eligible for free child development services. Items needed for registration are proof of 12 months of income and proof of birth.  No appointment necessary, stop by the office located at 217 Old Lair Road, Cynthiana, or call 859-234-2121.


Historical Book Club will meet Thursday, June 26 at 4:45 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The book for discussion will be Blood and Thunder. Pick up copy at the library’s front desk.

CHS Alumni Banquet. The Cynthiana High School Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, June 28 at The Prizing House, Church Street. Tickets are available at Biancke’s, Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum, Farmer’s Bank on US 27 South, and Ewalts Jewelry. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30.

Friday Night Flix. Every Friday night in June at Flat Runs Veterans Park. Presented by Living Free Community. Activities begin at 7 p.m. and movie at dusk. Watch a family movie under the stars. Drug free zone. Bring own chairs and blankets. Concession available.

Harrison County Fair Sing. Anyone wanting to participate in this year’s fair sing (Christian, Gospel, Bluegrass), on Sunday, July 6 at 6:30 p.m. contact Dawn Arnold at 588-0339.

Narcotics Anonymous meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m.; and Saturdays from 6-7 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. at 312 W. Pleasant in the annex (at the rear of the church).

NAMI Family Support Group. (National Alliance on Mental Illness). A peer-lead support group for loved ones (18 and older) of individuals living with mental illness. The group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Bourbon Community Hospital in the Hopewell Medical Complex in the community room, 8 Linville Drive, Paris, Ky. Hymn Sing. Berry Methodist Church will hold a Hymn Sing on the fourth Sunday of each month beginning at 6 p.m.
