THURSDAY, Sept. 30

Harrison Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a “Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories $5 sale” on Thursday, Sept. 30. The sale will be held in the main lobby of the hospital from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. All proceeds to support the work of the Harrison Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Berry Lions Club meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Berry Lions Club Hall at 7 p.m. New members always welcome.

Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.

FRIDAY, Oct. 1

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Oct. 1 at Cynthiana Baptist Daycare at 10:00 a.m.; Eastside Laundry, 10:45 a.m.

Cynthiana Cycling Club. The Cynthiana Cycling Club conducts a bicycle building and repair clinic every Friday evening at Peter and Kim Newberry’s farm, to build and repair bicycles for the group bicycle rides on Saturdays and Sundays. If anyone knows of a child in need of a bicycle, have a used bicycle to donate, or if interested in helping repair or assemble bicycles call Newberry at 234-5285.

SATURDAY, Oct. 2

Chili Cook-Off. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 3:30 p.m at the fire station. For more details call the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library at 859-234-4881 or pick up a registration packet at the library front desk. Sponsored by the Cynthiana Fire Department/Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

HCHS Alumni Banquet. The Harrison County High School Alumni Banquet will be held Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $12.50 each and are available at the Christian Bookstore.

Free Yard Sale will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 in the back parking lot of Cynthiana Baptist Church from 8 a.m. to noon. Everything is free. No monetary donations.

Traditional Pow-Wow. The Cynthiana Elks Lodge will host a Traditional Pow-Wow Oct. 2 and 3. The event will feature Native American singing and dancing, food, arts and crafts. Admission is $5 adult, $3 children under 12 and senior citizens, and children under six free. Gates open Oct. 2 at 9 a.m., grand entries Saturday are 12 and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. For more information contact Clinton Gould at 859-234-8255.

Champions Cycling Club. The Champions Cycling Club weekly bicycle ride is held every Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Christian Church’s Camp Northward, weather permitting. MONDAY, Oct. 4

Southside Elementary School’s Site-Based Decision Making Council will meet on Monday, Oct. 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the school library. The public is welcome to attend.

Fall Leaves Craft Program. Monday, Oct. 4 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Drop by the library starting at 5:30 to make a fun craft. We will be making beaded fall bracelets and embossed leaf decorations. All materials will be provided so first come first served. This program is for our adult patrons.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Oct. 4 at Parkside Manor at 11 a.m.; Leesburg, 2 p.m.; and Grays Run, 3 p.m.

TUESDAY, Oct. 5

Storytime. Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 10-10:30 a.m. for ages 2-5 years at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

Smokey the Bear. Tuesday, Oct. 5  at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library at 5:30 p.m. Come meet Smokey the Bear  and learn how to prevent wildfires, have your picture taken and decorate a special frame, in conjunction with Fire Prevention Education. All ages welcome. Campground refreshments will be provided. This program will take place in the children’s area.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Toddler Village at 10:30 a.m.; Terace Park, 11:15 a.m.; and Cedar Ridge, 2 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 6

Storytime. Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 4:30-5 p.m. for ages birth to 5 years at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Eastside from 9:30 a.m. to noon; Kids Club, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Motorcycle Benefit Ride. Oct. 9, registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Walmart parking lot in Georgetown, Ky. Leave at 10 a.m. and riding to Blue Licks State Park. A raffle will be held at the park. Cost is $10 per bike. All proceeds to go towards medical expences for Tom Bickers.

NAACP Freedom Fund Gala. The Cynthiana and Harrison County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Freedom Fund Gala will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Westside Elementary school cafeteria at 1585 Ky. Hwy. 356. Mrs. Harriett Groh, Human Resource Manager from Ripley, Ohio, will be the keynote speaker for the evening. Miss Jada Griggs will be the Mistress of Ceremony.
