A Buena Vista landmark was severely damaged by fire last week.
About 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, Harrison County firefighters were dispatched to a fire at the Buena Vista store. Ilan Bear was passing the store when he saw smoke and called 911.
Chief Charles Carson said that three of the county fire district’s trucks were at the Harrison County Fair on stand by for a tractor pull. Two additional trucks were on their way to Grant County on a mutual aid call.
Carson said he called for assistance from the Cynthiana Fire Department after the first firefighter arrived on scene and saw the extent of the fire.
