Last Friday night, the Harrison County Thorobreds traveled to Covington to take on new district foes, the Holmes Bulldogs.

With both teams already earning a home playoff game, this contest would determine the  No. 1 seed in the upcoming postseason. Holmes prevailed, handing Harrison County a 23-7 defeat.

Holmes took the opening kickoff and marched down the field with some impressive running by the trio of Damien Oden, Jesse Jensen and Greg Clemons. They combined for 54 rushing yards on eight carries. The drive stalled at the Breds’ nine yard line, forcing the Bulldogs to settle for a 26-yard field goal from German exchange student Niko Ghanbar. This gave Holmes a 3-0 lead with 8:08 to play in the first quarter.
