The Harrison County Thorobreds won their second consecutive Semi-State Tournament with a 3-0 win over Beechwood on Wednesday night at St. Henry High School to sweep the first two games of the best-of-three series.  They now advance to the eight-team Forcht Bank/KHSAA State Tournament at Applebee’s Park in Lexington next week.

Harrison County’s pitching, defense and some timely hitting by seniors Eric Case and Bobby Feeback, proved to be the difference for the Breds.  Case and Feeback delivered back-to-back RBI singles as Harrison County took the lead.

In each of the first four innings, and five times in the game, Harrison County’s defense came up big by turning double plays to help sophomore righthanded pitcher Logan Dailey.  Dailey went the distance and scattered seven hits.

Case was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.  He played flawlessly at shortstop, had several clutch hits and RBIs in the two games and even came on to pitch in the first inning of the first game, striking out two batters and getting the Breds out of a bases-loaded jam.

Harrison County will play next Thursday against Louisville Trinity in the last game of the first round of the State Tournament at Applebee’s Park.  That game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
