Bourbon County Heart Walk rescheduled for May 19

-A A +A

Due to rain, the Heart Walk sponsored by Bourbon Community Hospital was cancelled and has been rescheduled for May 19.
The walk will begin on the hospital campus at 9:30 a.m. on Clinic Drive in Paris and proceed down East Main Street, past the courthouse, down High Street, turning at the YMCA, going up Main Street to the courthouse, back down Main Street to the YMCA, up one block to Pleasant Street, back to East Main Street and ending on Clinic Drive.
The walk will be approximately three miles long.
“We decided to do a ‘participation’ walk rather than a timed walk, to get lots of folks, including children, involved.” stated Diane Wagoner, coordinator of the event for the hospital. “Walking is an excellent way to exercise and it’s free!  It’s something families can do together.  The hospital is very excited about the event and we are looking forward to making this an annual event.”
There will be no fee to sign up or walk. There will be a donation jar for anyone wishing to donate to the American Heart Association.  Individuals or teams may sign up the day of the walk or in advance by contacting Diane Wagoner at 859/987-1001 or diane.wagoner@lpnt.net.
There will be ribbons awarded to all participants and a team trophy will be awarded to the team with the most walkers in each of three categories; 1) business/industry 2) church/civic groups; and, 3) schools (i.e. Cane Ridge, Paris Ele, BCMS, St. Mary’s, etc.).
Registrations the day of the event will begin at 9 a.m.
In addition to the walk, there will be vendors selling goods and games for children to play. A zumba demonstration will be held from 9 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and everyone is welcome to join in.
For more information on the event, see the ad in today’s paper or contact Diane Wagoner at 987-1001.
