The Cynthiana Chapter of the DAR met at the Cedar Ridge Health Center on Sept. 15.
Regent Melinda Rawlings called the meeting to order and welcomed guests and speaker Rogers Barde.
The DAR Ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the American’s Creed were recited, followed by singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
Rogers Barde from the John Fox Jr. Library in Paris gave a most informative talk on how to research your Revolutionary ancestor, how to document, and how to fill out the necessary papers in order to join the DAR.
The President General’s message was read by Judith Rawlings. The National Defense message about the life of Neil Armstrong was read by Melinda Rawlings. Sally Kinney read the Conservation Minute. Minutes of the May 12 meeting were approved as read.
Copies of the Patriot Express was handed out, which is now only available on the internet.
Reservations for the 4th District luncheon and fundraiser tour are due to Lynda Closson by Sept. 17.
Reservations for the Limestone Chapter lecture and tour are due by Oct. 15.
Mary Mac Barnett received a certificate for Outstanding Service for her work with the NSDAR.
NSDAR Slate of Candidates for President General are Lynn Young and our former KSDAR Regent Sharon Withers.
The speaker for the Oct. 13 meeting will be Bill Blackburn, Harrison County ROTC. The meeting will be held at the Harrison County Library Annex at 2 p.m.
