A prepaid debit card scam is currently circulating our area targeting members of Blue Grass Energy.
“The perpetrator calls members posing as an employee of Blue Gras Energy. They inform the member they are late on their electric bill, and their service will be disconnected if not paid immediately. The caller instructs the member to purchase a prepaid debit card then call back providing the numbers from the card to pay the bill. Once the caller has this information, they are untraceable and have access to the money,” said Denise Myers, Energy Solutions Manager.
