George and Leah Rowell had very little time to celebrate the birth of their first child before they were delivered life-altering news.
Leah, who had suffered pain in her right hip and back throughout her pregnancy, was told the day after the birth of her son that she had cancer. It was in her pelvic bone and treatment would be radical.
The 28-year-old new mother was transferred to Nortons Hospital in Louisville.
On March 19, Leahs right leg was amputated.
Shes doing good, said husband George in a telephone interview Tuesday from Louisville.
