Back a Vet accepting donations for veterans

Community Action Council is seeking donations of the following items for veterans experiencing homelessness in Bourbon, Fayette, Harrison, Jessamine and Nicholas counties: Backpacks (new or gently used), personal hygiene items (new-trial size, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, disposable razors; white socks (new); 12 oz. bottles of water.
Veterans risk their lives and sacrifice precious time with their families to protect Americans and the freedom we all enjoy. Many veterans return from overseas and become homeless due to a variety of factors such as experiencing effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and having limited social supports.
Deadline to donate is Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at all of the following Council locations: 913 Georgetown St., 3439 Buckhorn Dr., Suite 100, 1902 Cambridge Dr., 1169 Winburn Dr., and 520 Toner St., Lexington; 1414 South Main St., Millersburg; 1113 Main St., Paris; 216 Old Lair Road, Cynthiana; and 149 Scrubgrass Road, Carlisle.
