Archers set sights on state tournament

-A A +A

Coming off another dominating Region 8 sweep, Harrison County archers return to the competitive range at the Louisville International Convention Center March 29.
Almost 3,000 shooters from all over the Commonwealth look to descend on Louisville for this event. Harrison County, particularly the high school division, has high expectations individually and as a team.
For starters, junior Keith Northcutt gets an opportunity to defend his 2010 high school boy’s state title. Like last year, he will be shooting early in the day and hopes to set a high score for others to chase. Keith won’t have to look too far for competition as several of his own teammates have challenged him this year.
Freshman Justin Barnes has shot exceptional this year and his overall Region 8 title helped lead four other Harrison County shooters to a sweep of the top five scores.
Team archery scores include a total of 12 scores: The top four male scores, top four female scores, and the next four highest scores regardless of gender.
Harrison County Middle School has reached as high as fifth place in recent years and the bulk of that squad are now members of the high school team. There are extremely high expectations that this high school team can compete for a top-five finish.
Harrison County will be sending over 70 archers to Louisville on March 29. Three divisions will compete for team titles while all shooters chase individual crowns.
