Alvarez changes plea

The 40-year-old Cynthiana woman accused of shooting her husband in the crotch nearly a year ago changed her not guilty plea to guilty on an amended charge.

Kerrie Florence Alvarez was indicted in June on a charge of first degree assault, domestic violence after she shot Javier Alvarez on Feb. 18 in front of their Newsome Avenue home.

A two-day jury trial was scheduled for Jan. 24 and 25. However, Kerrie Alvarez changed her plea to guilty on the amended charge of assault under extreme emotion distress.
