MCTC-Licking Valley Campus is proud to announce that the Fall 2012 edition of Life’s Vivid Creations has arrived.
Life’s Vivid Creations, the campus literary journal, is published bi-annually and the Fall edition includes winners from the 2012 Licking River Writers Writing Contest.
“We are so proud to showcase excellent work from students and adults in Cynthiana, Paris, Carlisle and other surrounding communities,” said Kristy Horine, editor-in-chief of this edition, and executive director of the annual LVC Writers Conference. “Our newly published authors have worked hard to write, polish and find the courage to submit their work, and now they are reaping the rewards of their hard work.”
In the spring of 2012, students and adults heeded the call for submissions to the writers contest.
Their submissions were sent to accomplished judges in each genre and category, and top 10 finalists were awarded ribbons, given a chance to read their work on the public stage, and were then in the running for first through third places.
The top three place winners in each category, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade, middle school students, high school students, and then adults, were recognized last fall at a gala dinner event that kicked off the fourth annual Writers Conference on campus.
“It was an honor to read their names, give them their cash prizes, and then watch as they turned to write another story, for another day,” Horine said. “We are looking forward to many more days of helping writers find their voices and then helping those voices to find a place to be heard.”
The literary journal is a student publication, produced by the student campus group, Literati, an organization of individuals who share common interests in the arts.
Life’s Vivid Creations is on sale now at the Cynthiana campus for $10.
Winners and their family members may contact the school at 859-234-8626, ext. 66400, to purchase a copy, or they may stop in the office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
